Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much do you charge for counseling sessions?

A: I charge $120 per hour (55 minute session).  The first session is $140, due to increased time involved with paperwork/filing/handling.

Q: Do you accept insurances?

A: Yes, I accept some insurances.  As of July 2019, I accept:  ASR, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, ConnectCare, McLaren (all insurances including McLaren Medicaid), and Meridian Medicaid).

Q:  What forms of payment do you take?

A:  I accept cash, most credit/debit cards.  I can accept payment with FSA Credit Cards as long as they have a Visa/MasterCard logo on them.

Q:  Are there any forms I can fill out ahead of time before my first session?

A:  Yes, thank you for asking.  Please refer to my Forms page and find the appropriate forms (under counseling clients).  Please print them, fill them out, and bring them to your first appointment.  If you don’t have access to a printer, no worries!  I have extras on hand and you can arrive a few minutes early to fill them out the day of your first appointment.

Q:  What is your approach to therapy?

A:  I believe in meeting the client where they are at.  I want to get to know you and understand all of the factors in your life that are impacting you, either negatively or positively.  I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach for therapy.  So, while you may have a friend who has had really good progress with pharmaceuticals alone, another friend may have had really good progress with exercise alone.  And further, a third friend might have good progress with implementing changes on many different levels, including changing their thoughts and behaviors.  I take a holistic and strengths-based approach, while also considering what challenges I see that might be holding you back from meeting your desired goals.
